    About the 4:5 ratio

4:5 (0.8:1, upright) is Instagram’s long-standing portrait post shape and the size Facebook recommends for portrait feed images: it fills far more of a phone screen than a square. On its side it is 5:4.

Pixel sizes: 1080×1350 (the standard Instagram portrait upload), 1440×1800, 2160×2700, 4000×5000 (20 MP).

Printing: 4:5 is the classic portrait print shape — 4×5, 8×10, 16×20 and 24×30 in are all exactly 4:5. At 300 ppi an 8×10 needs 2400×3000 px and a 16×20 needs 4800×6000 px. (11×14 is close but not 4:5.)

Film & cameras: it comes from 4×5 and 8×10 inch large-format sheet film; 6×7 medium format (about 56×70 mm) is nearly the same shape. From an upright 3:2 frame a 4:5 crop keeps about 83% of the picture.
